{ candy land } cropped top x flared skirt

Summer is the perfect time for some hot pink ensemble! The cut out cropped top x flared skirt combo is perfect for a bit of breeze in the midriff, free ventilation for me, haha. It's a cute, bold spinoff of a classic shaped skirt!

Walking around lower Manhattan with my friend Edward, we found this really cool blue wall backdrop. The contrasting colors of blue and pink was as if I was a little girl in candy land. Well, getting pretty photos taken is like candy land for me ;) Photos by EDO Photography, see more of his work at edo-photography.com.

When putting the outfit together, it was hard since I don't have any white heels. However, as an afterthought, I do like how the monochrome heels looked at the end. The black back and straps was a nice complement to my darker hair, while the white ties back to the top.

To finish up the look, I threw on some gold jewelry so it pops against the pink. Instead of just tying up the hair, I added on a studded headband to give it a bit more personality.

Unfortunately, summer's ending is just around the corner (and sorry for not posting in a long time! Was caught up with lots of work this past month). Did you catch enough waves this year? I sure did on my trip to Bermuda, (OK who am I kidding, how could I have had enough of the beaches in Bermuda...) but in back in NY, I didn't go as much as I've liked.

When my friends decided to gather a group to go to Oyster Bay, I jumped in with them. I've been to another beach in Oyster Bay, but this one was interesting. Instead of sand near the waterline, it as little pebbles. It's great so I don't have sand stuck in my toes and legs, but bad because laying on it felt like little beads stuck in my skin LOL

Unfortunately #summer is coming to an end soon! So time to hit the #beach before it's too late! My #JCYstyle #10seclookbook featured a #sexy #little #black #monokini~ more photos up on http://bit.ly/oysterbayx

I love capturing the sunset, especially at the beach. The yellow rays cast a beautiful golden hue over the relaxing blues, creating a very romantic and magical mood. What I love about this monokini is the details!! These photos also allowed me to practice more photoshopping~ I was inspired by SISTAR's newest MV "I Swear" for the color toning.
credit to the owner who created it, if it's yours please let me know so I can credit you!
The song is so catchy, I kept clicking on the replay button. I'm thinking of doing a lookbook inspired by their outfits... but I have so much videos in queue to edit, so I'll see! Anyways, my point is their videographer/photographer did a great job at the filming haha. Loved it.

{ Antique Blue } Floral Flared Dress

Two weekends ago, I went with my good friend and one of the first photographers I ever worked with, Sandy Chen, to the MET museum. We wanted to catch the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit before they unfortunately closed this past weekend. Since we're going to a place that houses lots of antiques, I decided to dress as an antique too :P Well, with a few modern touches.

{ antique blue } #JCYstyle #10seclookbook more photos of the outfit and the MET trip with sandy up on the blog! Http://bit.ly/judycyangx

Photos & video taken by Sandy Chen Photography.
The dress features a floral pattern, but instead of the smooth surface of a vase it resembles, it had texture making it more interesting. To break up the top and bottom, I added a black belt with a golden knob, reflecting the gold hardware of my quilted bag with a twist. The bag isn't really quilted, but more like a weaved design. Since there was already a lot going on with the patterns and textures, I chose a simple black sandals that had some gold hardware to tie it all up.

Kind of reminds me of ninja shoes 8D
As for the exhibit, it was really inspiring. His designs were simple and elegant, something I aspire to be hehe. I love the ribbon dress as you can see how hard it would be make a form fitting dress out of 6" wide silk to hug a women's curve, and sewing it must have been a pain (I've sewn plenty of silk when I studied fashion design. But nothing beats chiffon... oh god... I had to hand sew over 30+ yards...).

I also loved the lace clover style dress, the lace was placed strategically to make the waist appear smaller and from afar it reminds me of a monarch butterfly. Someone also said "He loved making dresses that makes the butt look bigger," which was kind of true. There were a lot with bustle like backs that makes it protrude more. This exhibit, unlike the Alexander McQueen, allowed us to take photos and had a lot of his quotes all over - on mirrors and glass - and had two floors! It was an amazing experience.

How every artist feels!
Why women are so addicted to makeup and beautiful clothes.
Looks like they are talking among each other.
Love the layers and layers of tulle! I can just hide under it 8D
So beautiful!
Definition of sexy = mystery.
One of his most complicated but beautiful designs.
Reminds me of a flower!
Beautiful drawings.

{ Red Door } Shift Dress with an Edge

Last outfit post for my birthday outfit, many of my friends loved the elegant shift dress, so this time I brought out another shift dress to play with. However, I threw in a bit of edge with it. It still had the high neck collar, but instead of the sophisticated, beaded details, it had a caged embroidered style. I thought it's so unique!

A body's shape is hidden by the wide silhouette of the dress. I brought back the waistline with a belt, the pointed edge followed the shape of the sweetheart neckline, pulling the eyes down to my caged sandals.

Lately, I love pulling my hair towards one side and tucking the flat side behind my ears, kind of reminds me of those hairstyle where one side is shaved. I think I can pull it off, don't you think? :P Just kidding, I think I'll cry if for some odd reason I decide to shave part of my head haha. Anyways, by pulling most of the hair to one side, it can show off a cool earring like this one I got from Alex and Chole x Forever 21 collaboration a few years back.

Since there were a lot of details already, i used a simple crossbody bag to complete the ensemble.

"What If" Premiere with Daniel Radcliffe

Last year, I had a "Harry Potter" Marathon, rewatching my the series I grew up with. Watching the stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint grow up in 1179 minutes is always fun. I had a friend who watched it backwards to see them shrink!

Red carpet. Unfortunately I missed out when Daniel was on it, I was too far in the line to catch a glimpse of him :(
Red carpet interviews.
So when my friend Stu invited me to go see the premiere of "What If", starring Daniel Radcliffe I obviously had to go! It's actually my first post-"Harry Potter" movie of his, because, sorry, in my mind I see him as Harry haha... But this movie actually turned it around for me. I saw him as Wallace, the guy with mesmerizing eyes that "you get lost in" (quote from Z100's Garrett) and his sexy accent. Great performance by Daniel, and all the cast. At first I didn't like the cast choice for Chantry (Zoe Kazan), but you fall in love with her cute puppy like face, and really root for them to get together.

#DanielRadcliffe on the movie #WhatIf ! Love his eyes and accent! My thoughts on the movie coming soon to my blog http://bit.ly/judycyangx

As Radcliffe puts it, the story line is very balanced between the guy's and girl's side. Although it is told more from Wallace's point of view, you still see the struggle from Chantry's feelings. What I like about it is that it's not a cheesey or very fake romantic story, but very well thought out romantic comedy. The jokes were funny, the cast had great chemistry and I love the animation they incorporated in, to show Chantry's feeling since she an animator. And most importantly, it asks the question every one has "can men and women really just be friends?". Is it hard to have platonic friendship? Or spending too much time with each other cause confusion.

Front row seaters were lucky to see him up close! I should've stayed down there but my neck would've died watching the movie haha. My friend says he came out of an upside down pokeball haha. I love Garrett's responses to the audience question, especially when one girl said Harry Potter instead of Daniel Radcliffe. And when people ask if Daniel will come out, he says "I'm not sure if it's the Daniel you're looking for, but what if it is?"
It's a great summer film to watch with your significant other, because it really shows that when something is great you try all means to keep it together, and not let it fall apart. So what if you give the movie a try? You might just like it ;)

She played Nicole in the movie, Allan's wife.
