{ red flare } topshop leather jacket x forever21 dress

Red is one of my favorite colors - it's bold and confident, yet can be romantic and sweet as well. I love flared dresses as it creates a smaller waistline, so this Forever21 dress was the perfect combination for me. It's cut in a textured material to create contrast against my smooth faux leather Top Shop jacket. Add a little brightness with the Forever 21 white cluster necklace! The necklace and jacket combined, creates a juxtaposition of sweet and edgey.

I love color blocking, especially on this modern H&M bag! The white is faux crocodile skin, while the black edges are regular faux leather. For chained bags, I've been reaching for my darker gunmetal thick chains rather than the dainty gold recently. Guess just want to switch it up!

I wore this outfit back when I went to Prince Tea House for first time with Bethany (who took the photos for me too). More photos and review of the cute little place coming soon (lots of photos because I went 5 times since all my friends wanted to go after my little video T__T).

Oh, and did I mention my red lipstick from Revlon in Standout is a total color match for my dress?

Beauty | IPSY January 2015 Bag

I really love IPSY monthly bags! I get to try 5 different products each month, and the recent bags has makeup I would actually use. So I decided to finally get off my lazy butt and do a review of it! This month's features a makeup bag that is blue one one side, and white on the other, with a contrasting orange zipper.

A full size of Hey Honey Take it Off (a clever name for a exfoliating honey peel off mask for all skin type) is $35 for 50 mL, making this deluxe sample $7 for 10 mL. It has very light scent, and was easy to peel off unlike some other peel offs I've used before. It's a clear gel formula and did not irritate my skin. After peeling it off, my skin felt smoother and moisturized. Can't say if it really exfoliated, but overall a good product to bring with me to travel.

I LOVEEE the Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow brush. It's such a cute pink brush, but not only is it pleasing to the eyes, it feels nice against it too! The bristles are soft and picks up eyeshadows really well. I'm thinking of ordering some as back up. I love it!

The name of the Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow I got certainly suits me - ethereal! It's a beautiful shimmery nude, and is more pigmented than I thought it would be. It's a great color for the base. I liked that it's natural and doesn't contain a lot of those scary chemicals many makeup do. It also has coconut water, which gives it that creamy texture and look. It reminds me of Stila's Kitten Eyeshadow.

In the jar, BelláPierre's Shimmer Powder in Whesek looks like it would be really dark gray, making it a color I usually wouldn't go buy. To my happy surprise, it's a beautiful soft gunmetal! I'm so glad I got this unique shade, it's really beautiful! I also don't usually buy shimmer powders as they are more messy to deal with, but since it's such a pretty color, I'll deal with it :P

Lastly, to finish the look, I received Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer. It comes in a toothpaste like tube with a slanted edge for easy application. I like the packaging as it's more sanitary than if it was in a tin or jar. It has a light and lovely floral fragrance, and goes on a bit thick and sticky, but not heavy. However, it really did moisturize and soften my chapped lips since it contains vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil. It also had a slight pink tint, and combined with the shine and plumpness it creates, it makes a great replacement for a lip gloss.

I'm very happy with this month's IPSY monthly bag! I hope if you join, you'll like the items too. They are getting better and better :)

{ bold blue } cropped sweater, flared skirt, fox tail

Make a statement by using bold colors! I love this bright blue, which pops against the black pieces in my outfit. Bright hues are especially great to bring up the mood in the recent gloomy weather. It's the perfect look for a brunch date with my sister.

For a cute and fun look, I paired this cropped cable knit sweater with a flared skirt. I love the texture on this sweater; it's simple, but has a beautiful weave to it. For a slimming look, choose a paneled flared skirt over gathered at the waistband type. The gathered type can look too bulky at times and make you wider than you are! This hugs your curves then flares out for a more flattering silhouette.

To tie in with my signature look, I threw on my favorite faux garter print tights, and faux fur foxtail. It's such a cute accessory for the winter! Just be sure to choose a more neutral color like browns or grays so it matches with more looks. I used to have a pink one, and I could barely use it!

I bought my sweater on sale from Express, and here's similar sweaters to recreate this look! Similar one two, Darker version one two, Longer one. Don't forget a fox tail accessory for the Forever21 bag (other envelope bags with similar flap design onetwo).

Beauty | Smokey Nudes Tutorial

Smokey eyes is the perfect look for any party. Instead of using the expected grays and silvers, try beautiful mauves and nudes! For this look, I used products from my Winter 2014 Target Beauty Box for Her.

First, prep your face the night before with my favorite night mask - Laniege Water Sleeping Mask. It has a gel like consistency and smells wonderful. It's not too strong, but rather relaxing, which is prefect for when you're about to hit the bed. I use it every night before a photoshoot, and the makeup artists always compliments on my skin! I already have a few jars of the full size (hey, got to stock up!), but the mini size in the box will be perfect for traveling with.

The key point of this look is the eyes! I used Covergirl's Eye Enhancers Kit in 286 Smokey Nudes, which consists of softly milled shadows in nude (1), mauve (2), gunmetal (3) and purple (4). All the colors were gorgeous, but I wish the color payoff would be better. Perhaps with a primer under the colors, they will pop more. However, I really do love the colors and the slight sheen!

Apply shade #1 at the center and brow bone for highlighting. Create depth with shade #2 at the inner corner and outer. Use #4 as the outer corner and blend out with #3.

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir goes on silky smooth and matte, almost like a gel liner. It lasted me the whole day without smudging or creasing as some eyeliners do to me! Definitely a new favorite. Even though it's a pencil rather than a liquid liner with a pointed tip, I was still able to create a cat eye shape.

L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza Mascara really lengthens and fans out my lashes, however the first application was a bit sticky. My friend suggested me to try it again after a few days when it's dried a bit. On my third try, it wasn't as sticky and really thickens the look of my lashes. The formula is great, but I don't love the comb they used - it's hard plastic, while I prefer natural bristle brushes. I do like the floral scent of it.

Moisturize your lips with the ChapStick 3-N-1 Total Hydration Lip Care in Sweet Peach. At first I thought it would have a slight peach tint, but the product is clear with a sweet peach scent. It reminds me of my favorite Peter Thomas Roth complexion pads that smells of peach bellini.

The Revlon HD Lacquer in Smoky Topaz is such a beautiful my lips but better color! The packaging is so cute with the crystal at the tip, and has a brush applicator. It goes on smooth, a bit thick and shiny but not sticky. Love the color!

Finally, give your hair some volume and shine for the final sexy touch. I used the Clairol Hair Food Thickening Hair Treatment infused with Kiwi fragrance, which can get a big strong if you use too much. However, it really smooths out my dry hair! I spray some on the roots, and blowdry my scalp for a bit of oomph to the crown.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the items in the box. It has my favorite already (Laneige mask), and allows me to try new products that I fell in love with! I'm also glad that they used more nude tones so that I can use it more often :)

{ salt & pepper } faux fur, faux garters

Ever since I can remember loving fashion, I have loved loved loved faux fur (save an animal!!) and garters (blame my passion for lingerie designs). On my "Ikea date" with Grace, I threw all those together for a look, playing with different shades of gray.

Sometimes I prefer a faux fur vest over a jacket since it's more slimming and can create layering effect. I wore my black and gray tonal vest over a deep gray bodycon dress, which was so slimming! I used to be afraid of wearing longer length dresses, but now I find it sophisticated yet still sexy. Who says shorter is always better?

Contrasting the thick vest, is my printed on garter tights. Instead of the usual one garter look, this one had two garters and lace print for a a vintage look. Although I usually reach for my faux leather booties, I paired this outfit with my new flat faux pony fur booties. Not only is it easier to walk around the giant Ikea with, the matte, dark blackness of it elongated my legs more than a faux leather surface would.

Since I wanted my outfit's key points to be the vest and tights, I kept the jewelry minimal. A simple silver bangle embellished by gold details, reflecting the gold in the crystal encrusted earrings.

I was a good girl and only bought Ikea food, a cute bear for my cat's Christmas present, Christmas decorations and a faux fur mat to photograph my makeup items on :) Need to control my spending! And here's me being crazy because of it! JK She was telling me not to laugh but can't help it hahahaha

Sugar Club | Elmhurst Thai Snacks, Bakery & Grocery

My first dessert trip of the year was with my bestie to the new and bigger location (just a few stores down from the original :P) of Sugar Club in Elmhurst. It's a Thai bakery and grocery store, and in the center of the store was the dessert island! My post is geared towards this said dessert island, because you know... I love desserts!

They had a variety of honey toasts, waffle, toasts and other salty snacks. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of their cutely drawn menu. However, I remember there was about three different choices of honey toast - the original which came with a choice of ice cream and a fruit, the golden toast which had bananas and mangos, and the honey town which had a small glass of honey and chocolate wafer stick on top. We chose the original with the green tea ice cream.

You can see how thick the toast was sliced! It was cut into nine pieces, and presently on a cutting board. The presentation was simple, but very adorable! I love the "composition" with the toast at an angle, a scoop of ice cream over a small glass jar containing oreo crumbs at the bottom, whipped cream, half sliced banana and an adequate amount of whipped cream. Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Fortunately for me, the toast itself was not drenched in honey, rather it was coated in just the right amount so that it won't be unbearably sweet for me. With sliced almonds sprinkled on top, it creates some crunchy texture, imitating that of the oreo crumbs and ice cream. The banana was fresh, and all the tastes went really well together.

It was $8 for this combination, the golden was $10 and town edition was $12. It's a decent price as it was the perfect amount for two people to share a dessert. The cafe area was really homey - the wooden tables and chairs by the huge windows so that light poured in, making the whole store appear even more spacious. It's also nice that they have a children's table and play area on the side, making it family friendly.

All the cashiers and dessert creators (is that what I call them!?) were super friendly! The lady who made our toast came by to check on us, and would answer any question should we have any. It was a really great experience, and I would for sure bring more friends over to try their other desserts. The couple next to us had an interesting salty snack; it was a half cooked egg with other condiments in a small frying pan. Again, such unique presentation and it looked soooo good!

{ step forward } cropped top, flared skirt, thigh highs

My first outfit for the new year of 2015! Decided to dress up in my favorite combination of cropped top and flared skirt for my first hang out of the year. Went to a really cute cafe that opened up recently with my bestie Katherine. Photos from that will be posted up next :D We also tried out my newest camera, a really cute mint one that I'll dedicate a post to soon.
I love thigh high socks but sometimes it's annoying as it can roll downwards (anyone can tell me how to prevent this?), so these tights that has the thigh high socks knitted in is my perfect solution. Not only do I prevent the slipping of the socks, I don't have to worry about cold thighs. Paired with booties with leather straps that when reflecting light, is a charcoal gray to match the tights.

Cropped tops and flared skirts is a really flirty combo, but remember to choose a high waisted knit skirt. That way it's not too revealing but still really cute. I really love this sweater cropped top, it creates texture and isn't too short. As many of my readers know, I love interesting jewelry so I paired with this double chain ring and dropped necklace.

To create a monochrome look, I layered shades of gray from the socks, tops to my jacket. I love this textured coat with leather and fur details. What was you first outfit of the year? :)
